Athens, Georgia has been called "Live Music Central" and the "#1 College Music Scene." That’s why we are excited to hold the first ever Georgia Rodeo here this fall, October 21st, during Bye week! Though the town is no stranger to country music concerts, the Georgia Rodeo is country music like you have never seen it before. Featuring a full tailgate experience, multiple rodeo events, and a stacked country music lineup, it’s a night that you will never forget.

Experiencing Athens, Georgia

Many people who attend the event will be local, but if you’re road tripping to Athens for the rodeo this fall, chances are you’ll be hungry and looking for something fun to do when you get here. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite things to do in Athens so that you can enjoy exploring the town before you enjoy the live country music by our headliner Riley Green, plus Koe Wetzel, Ernest, Kolby Cooper, and Conner Smith!

  • Wuxtry Records is an independent record store that every music lover and vinyl collector must visit. They have new, used, and rare vinyls—you may even find records from the Georgia Rodeo artists!
  • The Last Resort Grill is an Athens legend. It opened in 1966 and hosted performers like Jimmy Buffett. Today, you can enjoy their southwestern style food and hang out in their beer and wine garden.
  • Marti’s at Midday, in the hip neighborhood Normaltown, serves up gourmet sandwiches and salads out of a 80 year old home.
  • On the University of Georgia campus, the Georgia Museum of Art showcases incredible artwork and exhibits. Tickets are free, but remember to reserve your time of visit in advance.
  • The Condor Chocolates cafe in Five Points not only serves delicious chocolate. They have great coffee too! Perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up, or a pit stop before the Georgia Rodeo begins.
  • Thrill seekers can reach new heights at Active Climbing. Grab a day pass and try to make it to the top of the 20 foot boulders.
  • Historic Downtown Athens is a great place to explore. Shops, restaurants, bars, and more are all within walking distance.
