ATHENS, GA

The Inaugural Georgia Rodeo - Concert, Tailgate, and Rodeo - Comes to Athens, Georgia

Jul 01, 2022

Live Country Music, Tailgating, and Rodeo is coming to Athens this Fall!

The first ever Georgia Rodeo—the Rowdiest Party in the SEC—is coming to Athens, Georgia this fall, bringing live country music, bull-riding, and tailgating to the college town during The University of Georgia’s Bye Week. It will be unlike any event Athens has seen before, bringing country music staples and rising stars to the scene all in one night. The party goes from day to night, kicking off with the rodeo and tailgating. The music will start in the afternoon, and the Georgia sunset becomes a backdrop for the stage as the artists play into the night.

The live music

At a traditional country concert, crowds will see only a couple of acts. This Georgia country concert takes things up a notch, featuring Koe Wetzel, Ernest, Kolby Cooper, Conner Smith, and a surprise headliner. You may have heard their songs before, but there’s nothing like hearing your favorite country song live.

Koe Wetzel, who is known for fusing rock and country music, has topped the charts with hits like Good Die Young. Ernest released his second studio album “Flower Shops” this spring with a single bearing the same name. Kolby Cooper started getting millions of streams and selling out shows based on the strength of his songs—like “It Ain’t Me”—alone. Conner Smith is a country music up-and-comer who went viral with his song “I Hate Alabama.” The Georgia Rodeo headliner, who will be announced on July 11, is an artist whose hit songs have garnered fans across the country.

The rodeo

Another way the Georgia Rodeo stands out from traditional country tours is the bull and bronco riding before the music starts. Professional riders will compete in the rodeo to see how many seconds they can hold on as onlookers watch up close from the gate. There will be a call-in day for those who are interested in participating in the rodeo. Stay tuned into our social channels or sign up for our newsletter for more information.

The tailgate

Parking for the event is available onsite, and tailgaters will want to pack a cooler or two. The rodeo is BYOB—just leave glass bottles and liquor at home. Tailgating will happen in the Athens Fairgrounds parking lot. Beer, soft drinks, and water will be sold inside the venue. Attendees of all ages are welcome to come to the event, but only those 21 and up can drink—staff will be checking IDs.

Athens is the perfect setting for the Georgia Rodeo, with its vibrant music scene and crowds of country music fans. The rodeo will be held on the Athens Fairgrounds on October 21st, giving locals, students, football fans, and country music fans something to do during Bye Week. Fans flying solo or in groups will have a great time at the event. Early Bird tickets and VIP tickets are currently on sale at a discounted price for a limited time.
